Improving our economy

Michigan led the country into the economic recession and still has the highest unemployment rate in the country.  As your state representative, my top priority will be to create good-paying jobs for our workers.  My experience with the State budget process will be crucial to helping the people of Michigan and the 54th district get back to work!  The State must prioritize our spending and we must reform State government to make it more efficient, but we cannot cut our way to prosperity. Michigan needs economic policies that put workers first.  We need smart business policy that entices business investment without squandering tax dollars in loopholes and ineffective tax breaks.  We must diversify the state workforce to create a more viable economy.

Our current system of picking winners and losers is not working. We must create an environment where all businesses can prosper, not just the few we select. Michigan has a talented workforce and we need to take any steps we can to put our people back to work.
